The former personal attorney for Donald Trump has left her position as New Jersey's top federal prosecutor. This comes after a court battle that invalidated her right to hold the office.
Attorney General's Statement
US Attorney General, Pam Bondi, announced Habba's resignation on Monday. Bondi stated that the court's "flawed" ruling made it unworkable for the official to lead the department effectively.
"Let no one confuse compliance for surrender," she wrote. "This battle will now extend throughout the country."

Habba's exit comes a week after a US appeals court found that she had been acting without proper authority as US attorney. This ruling is expected to impact many criminal cases in New Jersey.
The appellate judges said that a temporary posting that bypassed confirmation by the US Senate breached the Federal Vacancies Reform Act.
